i finally was set free this weekend. our weekends consist of a day and a half. My 2 friends and i went to almaty and stayed in a hotel. it was really difficult to navigate around and find the hotel, and communication hard. almaty is way expensive, and peace corp pays us something like 100 bucks a month. not much. so we had to find cheap eats, accomidation, beer and our very first VODKA. there are no street signs either. and again not knowing the language.we left yesterday afternoon on a mar/shoop/kah (little van). went to some beer garden and had our first vodka shots...well 2. then headed back to the hotel for my dancing... my Uigur dance which is for culture day. i have some uygers teaching me in my russian classes.My russian teacher is Uyger. Luckily my friend sandy had a camera to catch my dance moves.i believe she will blackmail me with these photos.
i have forgetten to mention some things of past. HORSE MILK AND CAMEL MILK!!!! the most nastyess stuff i have ever tasted. i almost vomited. they gave that too us our 2nd or 3rd day. OH and i wanted to make my host mom some pizza...well she pulled out her turkish cook book and looked up pizza and made it. If you ever want to know what hotdogs and fried eggs are like on pizza, ask me.
thats all for now, i need to go home and write about the weather in New York in russian, work on writing a story about myself in russian. And re-work an lesson plan that i am teaching my first class on tuesday. scary. its on listening.

Puppeh update:
The puppy is bigger now. Not huge, but bigger than he was before. Our new thing is to take lil day trips outside the city so he can sniff the clean country air. Mostly, he looks for things to roll in and squirrels to chase.
Dozie update:
She's good, so long as I convince her we're not as completely broke as she thinks. In fact, we far more broke than she can ever imagine, but we're still making mortgage payments, so its not all bad.
Tim update:
Meh. I work too much.
Boston update:
I know this was the one yur waiting for. The Democratic National Convention is comming soon. Most Bostonians are convinced it will spell the end of the world. I'm not too keen to disagree. If the rumored terrorist attack doesn't get me, the liberal cooties most assuredly will.
John Kerry, according to the Herald, was resonsible for the viet nam conflict. He may also cause cancer, but they're still investigating. In any case, I think he's probably a putz. And I will vote for him.
The Red Sox were unbeatable last week. This week, they suck.
All together, its been not a bad summer. One day I will finish painting the condo, and it will have been a very productive summer. Just afterwards, Barbara Bush will be photograped at a Las Vegas prostitute ranch. It will be unclear if she was a client or an employee. The oceans will turn to blood. Fire and brimstone falling from the sky...etc.
Hope all is well on the otherside of the world. Say hi to someone cute for me!
